The summer GUROP, Raines, and Kalorama Research Fellowships are meant to be a mentored, full-time, intensive research experience. The expectation is a weekly time commitment of at least 30-40 hours extending over eight to ten weeks. The actual time spent might be much more depending on the field of research and the specific project. The research project must be the primary focus of a student’s overall summer experience.
A student with plans to study abroad on a GU program for several weeks needs to work with the faculty mentor to structure the project. Some students, however, may want or need to take a course or two, or find supplemental employment, neither of which is expressly prohibited, but would be acceptable only with the approval.
